10+ Boudoir Photoshoot Ideas and Creative Themes
Boudoir photos ideas and inspiration: From BookTok to beach babe
When it comes to boudoir photography, you can be as creative or conservative as your heart desires. Boudoir should feel celebratory, indulgent and uniquely YOU – whether that looks like curating a theme with a bespoke location or keeping it sensual and minimalistic. Here’s 10+ of my favourite boudoir photoshoot ideas to kickstart your planning.
Hobbies and special interests boudoir photos ideas
Theming your boudoir session around your favourite hobby or special interest is a fun way to reflect your personality. Think, records and music, painting and palettes, baking (complete with sugar sweet camera glances and plenty of flour play) or an indoor plant jungle for those who love a philodendron (or 20!).
Most boudoir photos ideas based around your favourite hobby can be done in my home studio (no extra location scouting required) – you’ll just need to create a packing list of props and must-haves.
BookTok inspired boudoir photoshoot ideas
From dark and broody Haunting Adeline-themes through to carefree summer romances by Ana Huang, there’s endless ways to bring a BookTok boudoir photoshoot to life. Get creative with outfits that mirror your fave main character’s aesthetic, use a novel as a cheeky cover-up or recreate a steamy scene.
Just remember that any scandalous romps in public places cannot be recreated – Aelin and Rowan’s beach scene is going to have to stay a fictional fairytale.
Broader boudoir photoshoot ideas: Monochrome, feelings & meaningful symbols
Boudoir photoshoot ideas don’t have to fit into a neat little box – you can keep the theme quite broad and still receive a gorgeous gallery of images. Choosing a single colour and creating a monochromatic gallery can feel really sensuous; or you can choose a symbolic theme like femininity, florals or pretty silk bows.
We can also theme your boudoir shoot around mood and lighting – from soft and ambient through to light and airy, there’s plenty of ways to set an intentional theme, without getting too specific.
If you have a theme in mind, it’s best to let me know when filling in my contact form because I’ll need time to source props, locations and specialist makeup artists to tie the whole photoshoot together.

Step outside and dare to be outdoorsy
If you love hiking, running or are simply a nature-lover, outdoor boudoir photoshoots are a bold and cheeky alternative to traditional boudoir. Sunsets, forest escapes, poolside rendezvous and salty beach seascapes are some of my favourite outdoor boudoir photoshoot ideas.
Privacy is the main consideration for outdoor photoshoots – since public locations prevent us from taking any traditional full nude photos. However, with enough notice, I can always source private outdoor locations (such as Cabins in the Clouds) for a set location fee.
