Outdoor boudoir outfit ideas

Stepping into the great outdoors means we have less control over our “studio environment” meaning mud, bugs, water, dirt and wind can change our original photoshoot plans slightly. So, packing a variety of different outdoor boudoir outfit ideas is a safe bet.

Pack at least 3-4 different outfits or lingerie sets in a range of colours that complement the location. I like to think about:

Avoiding whites, creams and soft pastels because they’re a mud magnet and make seated poses impossible (brown dirt on white knickers?... Not a vibe!)
Planning outfits around boots or whatever shoes you’ll be wearing (even gumboots can look super chic as long as you're thoughtful about it)
What type of poses you want included in your session and making sure you’ll be comfortable doing those in the outfit/s you’ve chosen and at the location – we can’t really do a sultry pointed toe in gumboots unless you’re willing to lean against a tree barefoot.

Nature boudoir essentials: nobody wants a burnt butt!

I now offer a private farm location for all outdoor boudoir photography – meaning you can get as adventurous and nude as you like. However, the delicate skin on our bottoms, upper thighs and stomach can burn quickly – so full body sunscreen is a MUST.
You’ll also need to bring along:
Mosquito and bug repellent
A small first aid kit – there’s no leeches at our farm location, but some denser, more rainfall-prone areas do
Sunscreen to reapply throughout our session.

Lighting and season considerations for outdoor boudoir photography

Outdoor boudoir relies on natural light so depending on the time of year, we’ll need to plan the time of your nature boudoir session carefully. In winter, it gets dark early, so trees will begin to cast moody shadows as early as 4pm, but in summertime, 4pm lighting can be perfect.

It’s similar to choosing the right time for beach and seaside photoshoots – the perfect time is going to depend on the style and type of boudoir photos you want to achieve.
